Mrs. Burch's Weekly Update (9/9)

Happy Friday! Nightly Fluency and homework will begin next week. I'll send an announcment video in Seesaw with the specifics on Monday. Students are bringing their September Book Orders home today. I will be submitting the order on Friday, September 16, about noon. Don't forget to sign up for the Color Run! Fundraising is due by September 12! There is a prize for the class that registers the most kiddos! Ask your kiddos about the fun Science activity we are doing this afternoon! They will bring it home to show you, before consuming! :)

Coming up:
*September 16--Half Day (Dismissal 12:05pm), Book Orders Due
*September 28--Picture Day
*October 7--Hutchings Color Run! (Fundraising due Sept. 12)

Next Week:
Spelling--2nd grade words List 1: am, went, are, this, look, for
Reading--Taking Charge of Reading
Writing--Narrative Writing (inspiration and ideas)
Math--Odd and Even, Greater than and Less than
Social Studies--Me on the Map
Science--Earth's Land and Water

Reminders:

  • We celebrate birthdays with non-edible treats in 2nd grade due to numerous allergies! Items like pencils, erasers, and small trinkets are great items for treats! I will still make sure we sing and make your child's day special. Thank you for your cooperation!
  • Students need a healthy nut-free snack each morning. I have a small supply of individually wrapped snacks to pass out when students forget from time to time, but not enough to supply everyone every day. That being said, if you're interested in sending in some individually wrapped treats like goldfish, skinny pop, pretzels, etc to help stock my "classroom pantry" I would appreciate it greatly!!
  • Students should have a water bottle with a closable lid/top! It helps with not having to frequent the drinking fountain. Thank you!

Have a great weekend!! :)
