Mrs. Burch's Weekly Update (8/27)

Hi, parents!! We're almost through our 2nd week! I'm really enjoying the chance to get to know your kiddos! They are great!! :) Remember there is NO school tomorrow!

Please remind your child to bring a healthy snack for the morning, along with a water bottle. It's especially important to stay hydrated with mask-wearing. I know I'm working on this! Students can fill up water bottles in the classroom sink anytime they need to. Thank you to all the parents who have sent in disinfecting wipes, hand sanitizer, individually wrapped snacks, and prizes for the prize box!! Your donations are greatly appreciated!!

I am sending home your child's Home Learning Information, including their Seesaw Home Learning Codes, Xtra math login, and Epic class code information. Please follow the directions to install the Seesaw Class App on your home device. (The family app is for parents! The Class app is for students.) Students will only use the Seesaw class app in case of shut down or extended absence, where he/she would need to access their Seesaw account from home. Epic and Xtra math can be used at home anytime! Please let me know if you have any questions!

Reminder: There is NO school on Friday, September 4 or Monday, September 7 due to Labor Day.

Next week:

Reading: Taking Charge of Reading (fluency, longer phrases, scooping words, comprehension)

Writing: All About Me books, Complete Sentences

Spelling: Phonics (Long Vowels, Snap Words, R-controlled vowels)

Math: Numbers All Around (Number Grid Puzzles, Equivalent Names for Numbers)

Science: Measuring Matters (standard and non-standard measurements)

Social Studies: Me on the Map! (maps, globes, hemispheres)

We have begun our Math Unit! You can access the family letter and all the home links online: http://everydaymath.uchicago.edu/parents/2nd-grade/em4-at-home/
