Mrs. Burch's Weekly Update (11/21)

Hello, families! We had a great week! Go Lions!! 💙

We have been learning a lot about place value this week. Students created Place Value Turkeys for the hallway. Aren't they cute?

Don't forget we only have school on Monday and Tuesday next week! We will not have nightly homework, due to the short week. Enjoy your Thanksgiving Break!

The Canned Food Drive has begun! Our class needs 200 items to earn a movie/electronics reward! We are well on our way!! Keep those cans coming!! Thank you for all your onations!!

Participate in the Spirit Days and support the Canned Food Drive:

Next Week:

  • Math: Thanksgiving Math and Place Value (Unit 4)
  • Science: Plants
  • Social Studies: Holidays, Traditions, Different Cultures
  • CKLA Skills: Unit 2 Skills Assessment
  • CKLA Knowledge: Domain 3--Greek Myths
Upcoming Dates:
  • November 26-28--Thanksgiving Break! 🦃
  • December 8--PTO meeting
  • December 22-January 2--Holiday Break 🎄
Please note:
  • We do not celebrate birthdays with edible treats in 2nd grade. You are welcome to send in a pencil or small trinket for your child to pass out if you would like, but I will make his/her day special regardless! Thank you for understanding!
  • Don't forget: students need a healthy snack and a secure water bottle at school each day! We're having an issue with tops that don't close tightly OR that pop open easily. Please check your child's water bottle to make sure it's easy for them to latch. Thank you!
  • If you would like to help in our classroom this year, please see our Classroom Volunteer Sign-up! Make sure to fill out the volunteer form and turn into the office BEFORE you volunteer! Please limit sign-ups to twice per month, so all parents have a chance. Spots will become available 60 days out, so make sure to check back if everything is currently filled.
Notes from PTO:
  • PTO Update:

The Husky Holiday Shop is coming!

We are excited to host our 2nd fully run PTO Holiday Shop this year. For those new to the school, in previous years the PTO has used Holiday Shop vendors to provide us items for the shop and in turn they keep about 80% of the profit. Along with this, the prices of these shop items range from $0.25 to $22 which is hard for kids these ages to budget/shop in such a short amount of time. To make the experience a bit easier, shop prices are going to all be on the dollar and range in price from $1 to $6, with most items costing $1 to $3. Within the coming weeks we will send home a flyer (with your students shopping day) and budget envelope for your student.

*As a reminder to volunteer you must have completed a current 2025/26 background check on file. If you have not completed one yet this year, please do so as soon as possible and turn into the office by 12/10.
