Mrs. Burch's Weekly Update (10/21)

Hi, families! It was great chatting with so many of you last night at conferences. I look forward to connecting with the rest of you on Thursday, 10/27.

Students are bringing home their reading and writing workshop notebooks from Q1 today. Their notebooks are not graded. We use them for teaching and learning tools along with our mini-lessons throughout the unit. Some of the pages may be blank due to absences or simply because I tweaked the lessons along the way to meet the needs of the class. Ask your kiddos to show you all the fun things they learned in reading/writing last quarter! Narrative Writing folders and published writings will come home soon! You are going to be so impressed with your child's writing! I sure am!!

We have earned a class reward! 😀 The kiddos voted on junk-food/candy, pop, and a movie. Students may bring their junk food/candy and pop (no red pop, please) for an afternoon snack on Monday. We will watch the Wayside School Movie, since we are just about to finish the book. We will do a book/movie comparison after!

If you have not returned the Boxcar Children Field Trip Permission Slip and $5 donation with your child, please do so ASAP! Our field trip is 10/28. Our chaperones will be Mrs. June, Mrs. Cerda, and Mr. Moore. We will enjoy popcorn and sprite at the show. If you do NOT want your child to have this snack, please let me know.

We are in need of individually wrapped nut-free snacks for our classroom. Thank you in advance for your donations!! Also, we still need plastic grocery bags. I use them to re-stuff our bean bags and they're getting pretty flat. Thank you!!

On Halloween (10/31), students may wear their costumes over their clothes to school. We will enjoy our Boo Breakfast first thing and students will take off costumes before recess. Please check out the sign-up for items needed that day! We will do several Halloween crafts and activities througout the day that day, too! 👻
