Mrs. Burch's Weekly Update (12/6)

Happy Friday! We had a fun week! We started the week by figuring out our Elf Names! Ask your kiddos what their Elf Name is!!

We have also started learning about Holidays Around the World. We created some beautiful poinsettias to decorate our room after reading about Holidays in Mexico! We also "carved" wooden shoes after learning about Holidays in Holland!

The Gingerbread Man has started sending us notes from his adventures!! If you know someone in another state/country, please send them our information! See the post from Seesaw last weekend for all the details!

We have reached our goal of 200 cans!!
There is still one more Spirit Day for the canned food drive. Can we surpass our goal and help the EVENS take the lead?!

Please make sure to review the spelling words from last week, as we will be testing on Monday!

Next Week:

  • Math: Measuring (ft, in, cm) *Test Wednesday, 12/10
  • Social Studies: Holidays Around the World
  • CKLA Skills: Unit 3 Skills--Spelling Trees, Students Excel
  • CKLA Knowledge (Science): Domain 4--Our Planet: Cycles in Nature
  • Writing: Mooseltoe
Upcoming Dates:
  • December 8--PTO meeting
  • December 16--PTO Qdoba Night (4-8pm @ Howell location only)
  • December 18--Holiday Party! 🎄
  • December 22-January 2--Holiday Break
Please note:
  • We do not celebrate birthdays with edible treats in 2nd grade. You are welcome to send in a pencil or small trinket for your child to pass out if you would like, but I will make his/her day special regardless! Thank you for understanding!
  • Don't forget: students need a healthy snack and a secure water bottle at school each day! We're having an issue with tops that don't close tightly OR that pop open easily. Please check your child's water bottle to make sure it's easy for them to latch. Thank you!
  • If you would like to help in our classroom this year, please see our Classroom Volunteer Sign-up! Make sure to fill out the volunteer form and turn into the office BEFORE you volunteer! Please limit sign-ups to twice per month, so all parents have a chance. Spots will become available 60 days out, so make sure to check back if everything is currently filled.
Notes from PTO:
  • The Husky Holiday Shop is coming! Dec 15th-17th

Flyers have been or are being sent home. If you lose your budget envelope, replacements are available in the office. This year, we are introducing an eWallet option for families. Please submit one transaction per child and include the printed receipt in their envelope to assist our cashiers. We ask that you not pay for multiple students in one transaction as our cashiers will not be able to track money left for other siblings.

    Questions about eWallet? Contact: hutchingsptotreasurer@gmail.com

We still need volunteers to help students shop and wrap gifts—please consider signing up!

    Hutchings Staff Favorite Things

We’ve collected responses from staff for families to reference during the holidays or special occasions. View the list here: https://tinyurl.com/HuskyFavThings2025

If you do not see a staff member listed on here, they did not complete the survey.

    Qdoba Night

Save the Date-Tuesday 12/16 from 4-8pm at the Howell Location!
