Mrs. Burch's Weekly Update (10/14)

Happy Thursday! There is NO school tomorrow or Monday. Enjoy your fall break! If students did not turn in their fluency, please make sure they bring it on Tuesday.

Conferences are next Thursday and the following Thursday. I am sending home a reminder and questionnaire for you today in their mail. Please check their folders and return before your conference. You may email me your thoughts, if you'd rather.

Some students are bringing home spelling practice pages attached to their test. Please make sure they practice their missed words and return for an adjusted grade. Please also make sure to study the five core words (the ones titled "both") with your child each week to prepare for their spelling test. We do work on them in class in conjunction with the spelling skill, but many students need more practice at home.

Next Week:

Reading: Retelling, Reading Celebration

Writing: Conventions (capitals/punctuation), informational writing

Math: Unit 2 Test Thursday, October 21

Science: Volume

Social Studies: Physical Geography, Natural Resources, & Climate

  • Scholastic Book Ordering Class Page Our next book order will be the beginning of November, but you can place orders anytime! Feel free to pass along our class ordering page to friends and family, too! All orders help our classroom earn free books for our classroom library! (class code: GZKBK)

Upcoming Dates:
*October 15 & 18--No School (Fall Break)
*Fall Conferences--October 21 & 28

Reminders:

  • Students have homework on Seesaw Monday-Thursday each week. All homework is available starting at 3:45 PM each day. There will not be Seesaw homework on the weekends, but that's always a great time for students to get caught up if they're behind on their Seesaw activities. Nightly homework should only take 5-10 minutes. We talked about that even if they have sports or activities, they should be able to complete their homework without a problem. If students are unable to do their homework at home, they will need to finish during recess in the morning. If your child is having trouble and needs more help from me, please send me a message and I will help them in the morning!
  • Please make sure to call the office and let them know when your child is going to be absent, even if you send an email to me. The office needs to verify. The number is 517-540-8081 then listen for the different options for attendance. Thank you!
Enjoy your long weekend!
