Mrs. Burch's Weekly Update (11/19)

Hi, parents!  I hope you're having a great week! This update will be for this week and next, since next week is a short week! :)

Please note: 
  • Math test Unit 3 is tomorrow (11/20).  I sent my copy of the review sheet answer key on Seesaw yesterday. 
  • Social Studies test is Thursday (11/21).  Review sheet is coming home today!
  • Book orders were sent home yesterday, in case you missed the chance to purchase books at the Book Fair.  Orders are due online by Friday!!  Books make great Christmas presents!!  If you want to order for gifts, just let me know and I can put books in the office for you to pick up without your child knowing!  (clubs.scholastic.com, class code GZKBK)
  • We have school Monday and Tuesday next week.  Wednesday-Friday, November 27-29 there is NO School, due to Thanksgiving break.
  • Our Holiday Party will be Thursday, December 19, from 12:45-1:45pm.  Holiday Party Sign-up  Thank you in advance for your help and donations!!  If you helped at the Halloween Party, please give other parents the chance to sign up to help with the Holiday Party.  Thank you!  (*Please make sure your volunteer background check paperwork has been turned in to the office before you sign up to help.)  
  • If you would like to volunteer in our classroom on a weekly basis, please see the sign up sheet for available slots!  Volunteer Sign-up Sheet  **Make sure your volunteer background check paperwork has been turned in to the office.  That must be completed at least a week before you can volunteer in the classroom!
This week/Next Week:
Reading: Inferencing, Adjectives, Fluency 10 (no fluency next week)
Spelling: Unit 10, skill: proofreading (no spelling next week)
Writing: Nonfiction research about turkeys!
Math: Unit 3 test 11/19, Unit 4-Clocks & Telling Time
Science: finishing Matter (no formal test), beginning the Unit on Earth's Land and Water 
Social Studies: Holidays/Customs (test 11/21)

November 25--Black and White Day, OBOS Finale
November 26--Sweet Dreams Day ($1 or 3 cans for canned food drive)
November 27-29:  No School--Thanksgiving Break!
December 12--PTO Meeting 6:30pm (off site)
December 16-19--Santa Shop
December 19--Holiday Party 
December 23-January 3--No School, Holiday Break!
January 6--School Resumes
