Mrs. Burch's Weekly Update (5/2)

Happy May!! I can't believe it's the last month of school!! 

We had a great week! We visited the garden today for science and to check on our milk jug gardens. They're growing like crazy! The kiddos surprised me for my birthday when I walked in from bus duty this morning. They're the sweetest! ❤

Library Updates: 

• Next week will be the last week to check out books! 
• ALL books are due back on our library day 5/14. 
• The Book Fair will be in the library the week of 5/19, so we will shop during our library time on 5/21.

Next Week:

• No more nightly homework! Please continue to read at home daily!!
• Phonics: vowel teams review
• Reading: Miss Rumphias, Poetry
• ELA: My Story, Your Story (personal narrative writing) 
• Math: Unit 9--Equal Shares and Whole Number Operations

Repeat reminders:

• If you would like to volunteer in our classroom this year, please make sure you have filled out all the paperwork and have been cleared in the office before signing up! Here is the sign-up for Classroom Volunteers! 
• Please note: We do not celebrate birthdays with edible treats in 2nd grade. You are welcome to send in a pencil, small toy, or trinket for your child to pass out, if you wish! We will make sure their day is special regardless! 🎉

Staff Appreciation Week-

Next week, we are taking a trip to the Emerald City to celebrate our incredible teachers with a Wicked-themed Staff Appreciation Week! 
Our teachers work their magic every day to inspire and support our students, and we want to show them just how much they mean to us. Throughout the week, we'll be showering them with appreciation, fun surprises, and a touch of Broadway magic!
Please see the flyer attached on how you can join in on the celebration and help he celebrate our Wickedly OZ-some staff!
